Sesame Chicken Recipe

Simple Chicken Recipes

The quantities for this Sesame Chicken recipe are not big, but this is one of those simple chicken recipes which is versatile: the idea is that if you mix the chicken with pasta or rice, a little goes a long way. It is a great recipe if you are after cold picnic food recipes, lunch box ideas or quick easy dinner ideas.

The range of ingredients looks exotic but they are available in most supermarkets. Once open, you should use most of them within a month. To finish off your ingredients, try Beef Noodle Recipe or use the ingredients to make a simple vegetable stir-fry.

  • Easy
  • Preparation time: 5 minutes
  • Cooking time: 10 minutes
  • Serves: 4 people
  • Ingredients:

  • 8oz / 250g boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 2 teaspoons galangal
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
  • 1 teaspoon shrimp paste
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 4 pickled lime leaves
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • Method:

    1. Cut the chicken breasts into slivers.
    2. Mix together the galangal, tamarind paste, shrimp paste, soy sauce and lime leaves.
    3. Heat the peanut oil in a wok. Add the chicken slivers and fry until the chicken is cooked through (about 5 minutes).
    4. Add the soy sauce mixture and cook for a minute, allowing the sauce to reduce.
    5. Add the sesame seeds and cook for a further minute, being careful not to burn the seeds.
    6. Serve with pasta or rice and fresh vegetables.
