Pesto Sauce Recipe

This Pesto Sauce Recipe is quickly put together in a blender or food processor. Most Pesto recipes call for pine-nuts. These, however, tend to be pricey and are not always available. This recipe uses pecan nuts instead, and the resultant flavor is still very pleasing - you end up with a great budget-wise pesto.

This sauce is ideal with Leftover Lamb Recipes - Lamb Salad with Couscous, or with simple chicken or fish dishes.



  • Easy
  • Preparation time: 5 minutes
  • Makes about 1½ cups
  • Ingredients:

  • 3 cups loosely packed basil leaves
  • 1 cup pecan nuts
  • 1 medium garlic clove
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup olive oil


  • Method:

    1. Place all the ingredients except the oil in a food processor. Process.
    2. Gradually add the oil until you have a stiff paste. If you would like your pesto to be runnier, add a little more oil.
