Lamb Shank Recipe
This Lamb Shank Recipe is very quick to prepare. As with most lamb stew recipes, it is imperative that you give the shanks a long, slow bake at a low temperature. | This allows the meat to cook gently and produce a succulent, rich result. This is one of those perfect make-ahead meals, and if you are not needing to eat this right away, you can turn the oven off after the 3 hours and leave the shanks in the cooling oven. Be sure to see our budget meal planning ideas for using leftovers. |

- Brown the onions until they are a deep caramel color. This helps to give the dish flavor.
- Add the lamb shanks back to the casserole dish with the onions. Add the tomato ketchup, the beef stock, wine, paprika and fennel seeds.
- Place a lid on the casserole pan. Bake the lamb shanks for about 3 hours or until really tender. The meat should pull off the bone easily when the shanks are ready. Do check every ½ hour during the cooking process and add extra liquid if necessary.
