Ground Beef Recipe Quick Easy

and versatile!

Ground beef recipe quick easy: no frills but nevertheless delicious. This recipe also makes a change from other ground beef dishes in that it doesn't require tomatoes. You can cook it on the stove top, but I prefer to bake it in the oven as this produces a softer, richer result. Serve it with pasta, mashed potatoes or rice. You can use leftovers for Stuffed Eggplant Rolls, meat pies or simply for freezer meals.

  • Easy
  • Preparation time: 20 minutes
  • Cooking time: 20 minutes on stove top or 1 - 2 hours in the oven, depending on how much time you have and how soft you want your ground beef
  • Serves: 8 - 10 or makes 2 meals for 4 - 6 people
  • Ingredients:

  • 2½ lbs / 1.2 kg ground beef
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • ½ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • You will need a casserole dish with a lid. It is worth using one that can be used on the hob as well to save on washing-up.

    Method:

    1. Preheat the oven to 350° F / 180° C.
    2. Brown the ground beef in 4 - 5 batches. If you attempt to brown it all at once, you will land up with a gray, watery mass. Keep on one side.
    3. Brown the onions until they are a deep caramel color. This helps to give the dish flavor.
    4. Add the crushed garlic, Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce. Add the beef stock and pimento.
    5. Bake for 1 - 2 hours until the ground beef is soft and the gravy is rich.
