EasyPreparation time: 20 minutesCooking time: 20 minutesServes: 4 - 6It is the ideal way of using up leftovers from a barbeque or Steak with Texas Barbeque Sauce Recipe. Ingredients: ½ cup sesame seeds1½ lbs / 700g rump steak1 lb / 450g red bell peppers (about 2)1 lb / 450g carrots (about 6)1 cup peas (frozen or fresh)1 teaspoon cumin seed1 teaspoon coriander seed2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce3 tablespoons light soy sauceYou can use a wok or a large frying pan. I prefer a wok as it is easier to toss the vegetables and prevent burning. Method: - Start by preparing the vegetables and meat: peel the carrots if they are not organic. Slice them into thin julienne strips. De-seed the bell peppers and slice into thin strips. Trim any fat off the meat. Slice it into thin slivers.
- Using a pestle and mortar, grind together the cumin and coriander seed. Add the sweet chili sauce and soy sauce to the seeds. Keep aside.
- Heat the wok. Add the sesame seeds and dry fry for about 2 minutes. The sesame seeds will begin to "jump". Don't get yourself burnt! Remove the sesame seeds just as they start to color. Avoid burning them. Cool on a dinner plate.
- Add a little oil to the wok and make sure that it gets really hot. Brown 3 - 4 strips of rump at a time. It is not necessary to cook them all they way through. All you are doing is browning the meat to give it flavor. Remove the strips and keep on one side.
- Add a tiny bit of oil to the wok if necessary. Add the carrots and fry for about 5 minutes, making sure that you continually turn them. Add the peppers and continue to move the vegetables around the wok for about 2 minutes. Cook until the peppers and carrots are just cooked. They should be slightly tender without being limp. Add the peas. Add back the meat and pour over the soy sauce mixture. Toss for about 2 minutes.
- Serve your Beef Stir Fry recipe immediately on a bed of rice. Add a generous sprinkling of sesame seeds to each serving of your Beef Stir Fry Recipe.
