Greek-Style Yoghurt
with Caramel Topping and Strawberries
This captures the essence of late summer - strawberries and thick white Greek-style yoghurt...it is really very beautiful. | My kids are not mad about plain yogurt recipes, but in this dessert, it is a good foil for the sugary topping. Plus, there is no guilt trip as you are not eating heaps of cream! Try to use probiotic yogurt or organic yogurt if possible. Serve this as part of a healthy diet for kids - they will love it! |
This recipe also works very well with mangoes - substitute the strawberries with 2 - 3 ripe mangoes, thinly sliced.
Very EasyServes 6Preparation time: 5 minutesRefrigerator time: 1 hourIngredients: 1½ lbs / 700g strawberries, washed, hulled and dried2 cups thick yoghurt¼ cup dark brown sugar *You will need 6 small glass bowls. Alternatively, you can use attractive drinking glasses. Method: - Slice the strawberries in half and divide them between the glass bowls.
- Top the strawberries with about a third of a cup of thick yoghurt.
- Sprinkle the dark brown sugar evenly over the yoghurt.
- Now sit the glasses in the refrigerator for about an hour. You will find that the sugar 'melts' on top of the yoghurt.
* Demarara sugar or dark molasses sugar do well. You may like to try: Strawberry Yogurt RecipeEasy Fruit Salad RecipeHealthy Blueberry MuffinsLow Calorie Smoothie RecipesCreate a delicious menu from our Healthy Breakfast Recipes. See more Simple Dessert Recipes.
